Starts -The Genuine Summer Carnival in Upper Hutt

Where else would you see 15 pipe bands , axemen chopping wood, excavators balancing teacups and a new crop of NZ Idol potential recruits in action plus some of the best fairground rides -only in what many regard as the best park in the Wellington Region -Trentham Memorial Park

'The Pelorus Trust Upper Hutt Summer Carnival at Trentham Memorial Park has grown into a two day event in recent years.This Friday night from 5.30 pm the city's ability to nurture musical talent takes a new turn with the first Singstar competition in our region.Youngsters from 8 to 15 years just need to turn up with their singing voices and have a go .You can call the Upper Hutt i-SITE for more details -04 527-2141.

Nightshow all Mahon's Carnival rides will be in action along with a selection of food stalls.The $5.00 entry fee also gets you in on Saturday .

On Saturday From 10 am Trentham Memorial Park will buzz with a wide range of entertainment .The Wellington Hawkes Bay Regional Pipe Band Competition will be a major drawcard that sees 15 bands testing out their marching, playing and overall performance skills.The sound of bagpipes across the park attracts mauch attention.

The Town Square Entertainment Stage in the middle of the park has a mixture of dance, music and singing including the Eclipse Duo from the recent 'Little Big Day Out' Helicopter Rides will be available on Saturday and people can give their names and phone nos before the day to Upper Hutt I-SITE to help with planning .

Kevin Joyce , the new Carnival chairperson says he is impressed by all the work done by many volunteers to make the event happen.

Entry fees enable Carnival organisers to make donations to the community groups involved.

The Moggy Dog Show , Excavators digging Competition , Axemen comps , Mudslide and foampit all return this year.

Other new attractions include a big action display from Hirepool, Peugeot cars ,Kapiti Tramway Museum and Wellington Astronomical Society.
