Last week to have your say on signs and billboards
Auckland City Council is encouraging all those with an interest in proposed new rules for signs and billboards to lodge a submission over the next few days.
The council released draft signs and billboards bylaws in January and is accepting submissions on the proposals until 2 March.
Planning and Regulatory Committee chairperson, Councillor Glenda Fryer, is urging Aucklanders to participate in the consultation process.
“The draft bylaws represent a significant policy shift that could influence how our city looks and feels in years to come,” Ms Fryer says.
“The proposals recognise the importance of signs and billboards, but seek to reduce visual pollution and clutter so that the city’s urban design and heritage takes centre stage.
“We want to hear from industry players, businesses, and the general public to see whether we’ve got the balance right. I’d urge anyone with an interest to make a submission.”
All submissions will be considered by a hearings panel in the next few months. The panel will then make a recommendation on the bylaws to full council.
People can make a submission online at www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/bylaws or by phoning 379 2020 and asking for a submission form to be sent to them.
