The Unknowns hip hopped and rocked at MIT

Thursday saw the Unknowns perform at MIT's North Campus and the crowd couldn't get enough of them. The lunch time concert kicked off to a great start, even though the weather was nippy and the sky threatened to rain.

The Unknowns played a variety of songs which blended hip hop and rock, and also had up and coming singer Natalie Jones perform a few of her more soulful tracks. The performance gave MIT students a welcome break from their books.
The concert was well organised and students were encouraged to grab free food, CDs, books and movie vouchers.

The concert was organised by third year PR students Vineet Parashar and Manuel Potoru, sponsored by the Manukau Institute of Technology and Four Square as part of doing their bit to promote local talent in keeping with the spirit of NZ Music Month.

Hailing from West Auckland, The Unknowns is made up of Shannon (Demo), Ataera and Kyle (Kaos), who have been writing and producing hip hop since 2003, performing over 50 gigs throughout Auckland and Hamilton and have recorded more than 60 songs.

The Manukau Institute of Technology urges and encourages its students to put what they learn in class to practice by giving them the opportunity to create and organise events like this.

MIT's public relations students will continue working with the Unknowns to take their music to the next level, giving them the exposure they need and want.
