Council passes accreditation audit
Rodney District Council has passed its three-yearly audit for quality management (ISO 9001) with flying colours.
ISO 9000 is a suite of standards for quality management systems, administered by an independent body known as the International Organisation for Standardisation.
The standards cover a range of criteria including procedures for key processes, quality assurance, record keeping, regular reviews of individual processes and the quality system itself for effectiveness and facilitation of continual improvement.
A company or organisation that has been independently audited and certified to be in conformance with ISO 9001 may publicly state that it is "ISO 9001 certified" or "ISO 9001 registered." The three yearly audit was part of council’s re-registration with ISO.
Within Rodney District Council a number of areas are ISO registered including Animal Control and Bylaws, Environmental Health and Liquor Licensing, Environmental Protection, Building Control and Harbourmaster.
The audit produced no corrective actions for Council.
