Commuters Reminded of Upper Hutt Subway Closure
Passengers commuting to Upper Hutt Railway station by train or bus for work and other visits need to allow extra time if they use the nearby subway for access to Goodshed Road and Park Street.Paul Lambert , Upper Hutt City Promotion Manager says the subway will be temporarily closed from 10 am on Monday 2 July after the morning rush hour for 10 to 12 weeks. This will enable major upgrades to be made to the subway while major new construction is carried out nearby.
Mr Lambert adds that signage will re-route pedestrians to the Blenheim Street level crossing or Park Road rail bridge. He also reminds the public that they must only cross the railway lines at authorised locations. It is both dangerous and illegal to do otherwise.
