News of new school at Churton Park receives warm welcome

“This is fantastic news for Churton Park and especially for children in the area who can now be more confident that they will be able to attend their local school” says Roger Ellis, Chairman of the Campaign For Local Schooling and City Council candidate.

“The decision by Minister of Education, Steve Maharey, to approve a new school is one that is very welcome. Our community has faced unrelenting growth in population and household numbers over the past few years. The existing school has just about exhausted its capacity. This will be a very welcome relief for many families and parents in our area said Mr Ellis.

“We urge the Ministry and Board of Trustees to work closely with the community from an early stage in order to guage community views on important details such as location of the new school” said Mr Ellis.

“We’d like to thank Mr Maharey and his officials for this decision. We also acknowledge the work of our local MP – Peter Dunne - for making representations on behalf of the local community. Finally I’d like to thank all those supporters of the Campaign for Local Schooling for investing their time and energy in the campaign. This outcome makes it worthwhile” said Mr Ellis.
