Action Hobson Comment On John
Banks
Action Hobson councillors Christine Caughey and
Richard Simpson say they will work with whomever the people
of Auckland elect as Mayor.
The councillors were
commenting on the entry of former Mayor John Banks to the
mayoral race.
"Action Hobson is non-aligned and willing to
work with anyone who wants to make Auckland a more
environmentally and economically sustainable city, with
better transport options," the councillors said.
"We very
much hope that Mr Banks' conversion to modern public
transport systems is sincere, because it would be good to
have someone with his considerable energies advocating for
something we have made great strides in delivering since Mr
Banks last wore the Mayoral Chains.
"We are also pleased
that Mr Banks says he no longer supports the Eastern
Motorway and trust he is prepared to support our proposal to
remove the roading component from the eastern corridor
designation as a way of permanently putting this issue to
rest."
