Councillors extend CE’s contract till 2012
August 30, 2007
North Shore City Council has extended the contract of its chief executive John Brockies until mid-2012.
Councillors followed the requirements of the Local Government Act and advertised the position nationwide earlier this year.
Deputy Mayor Dianne Hale, who chairs the council’s contract management committee responsible for the chief executive’s contract, says she is very pleased to announce that they have retained the services of their top official.
“North Shore City Council is the fourth largest local authority in New Zealand and as our chief executive, John has very capably led the management side of the organisation since July 2003.
“He is very well respected among both the politicians and his peers,” says Councillor Hale.
A long-time North Shore resident, John Brockies says he is delighted to have the opportunity to continue serving the council.
“I’m very proud of the organisation’s achievements and the performance of our highly professional staff. I look forward to the many challenges ahead and advancing the interests of our city’s residents and business community,” he says.
