Mysterious landscapes appear

"Local body elections provide an opportunity for creativity that is rarely taken." says candidate Celia Wade-Brown. The councillor has painted eight simple landscapes for the public sites, reflecting her view that care for the natural environment must be the basis for Council and personal decisions. "We rely on the earth for everything. There is no spare planet, no escape from the consequences of our actions.My first priority is to reduce Climate Change but that must be done in a sustainable way. Planning that takes account of biodiversity, people's social and economic needs and involves locals is the way to go."

The Green candidate for Southern re-uses materials from previous elections, saving money as well as reducing environmental impact. They are designed to stand up to Wellington's windy weather.

"I'm pleased to see people using my billboard to make themselves comfortable!" say Southern Ward councillor, Celia Wade-Brown" as two men sheltered from the wind by her billboard in Roy Street, Newtown. people enjoy seeing something different and she got "toots of support" from passing motorists and friendly comments from passers-by.

Expect to see colourful additions develop over the next weeks - bikes, wind power, sustainable houses and wild creatures!
