2007 Manukau City Mayoral Candidate Debate


TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre, in association with Times Newspapers, is staging The Great Mayoral Debate, for contenders in the 2007 election for Mayor of Manukau City.

It’ll be held at the centre’s Genesis Energy Theatre on Monday, September 17, starting at 7pm, ending at 9pm. The theatre has seating for 700 people and entry is free.

All 2007 Manukau City mayoral candidates are invited, to outline their policies and field questions presented on behalf of the public. The candidates are: Kelvyn Alp (Direct Democracy Party), Arthur Anae (Independent), Baskaran Appu (Communist League), Len Brown (Independent), David Collings (Independent), John Harvey (Independent), Willie Jackson (Independent), Annie King (Independent), Craig Little (Independent), Paul Pavletich (Independent), Dick Quax (Peoples Choice).

Each candidate will have the opportunity to make an opening two-minute statement. Then they’ll be asked the same yet to be decided question, with a minute limit set for each answer. After a short interval, questions from the audience for individual candidates will be presented, as well as from members of the public submitting questions to Times Newspapers.

Manukau residents and ratepayers are encouraged to attend and take part in the important leadership forum. Public questions to candidates must be submitted before the start of the debate, with name and address contact details included, and can be sent to:
