Strong support for Whenuapai airport
Press Release

Rodney District Council
December 18, 2007
Research continues to show strong support for Whenuapai airport.
“Current market research says that a serious second look at the proposal to operate commercial air services at Whenuapai is worthwhile, and that there is public support for a smaller commercial airport within the existing permitted air services envelope.” says Rodney Mayor Penny Webster.
“There is even continuing support for such an operation amongst North Shore residents, and we hope to discuss the results of the research when we meet with Mayor Williams in the New Year. This bears out what we have always believed to be the case.” she added.
Mayor Webster plans to review the research results with North Shore Mayor Andrew Williams early in the New Year. The research, conducted by pollsters “tns”, is scheduled for public release today.
