Biggest Truck Convoy in Years
Over 60 large trucks rigs are expected for the convoy from Seaview to Upper Hutt that will start the Wellington Truck Show on Sunday 20 January. Trucks will leave Seaview at 8am en route for an expected arrival at Trentham Memorial Park from 8:45am.
Richard Hoblyn, one of the organisers, says the event has been organised by truck drivers and enthusiasts for a range of reasons. These include a chance for the public to get close to the trucks and understand the pride and motivation of truck drivers.
The main show at Trentham Memorial Park runs from 10am to 4pm will include truck and hot rod rides, transport displays, photo opportunities and the usual food and entertainment of a fun day out.
The truck drivers have decided to use the event to raise awareness of IHC activities in the community. It will enable a fun day out for children and adult with intellectual disabilities. Gold coin donations for the IHC Hutt Valley will be collected on the day. IHC is not totally funded by Central Government.
Some of the trucks from Quality Demolition that take part in “truck racing” will be on display at the show.
Other important features will include displays of trucks used for driver training giving the public the chance to find out about job opportunities.
Full details can be obtained at www.wgtntruckshow.co.nz or from Upper Hutt i-SITE Visitor Centre 04-527-2141. Entry to the park is via Brentwood Street, Upper hutt.
