Injured Motorcyclist Flown from Seddon
The Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to a motorcycle accident just south of Seddon late this afternoon.
The helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic onboard, responded to the accident around 4:30 this afternoon.
Upon our arrival we found police, fire and ambulance on scene treating a 37 year old Upper Hutt man who was injured when he crashed into a ditch.\
"As I understand it he swerved to avoid an oncoming car and ended up in a ditch alongside the road" says Dave Greenberg, Westpac Rescue Helicopter crewman. "He was in a lot of pain and was suffering injuries down the side of his body, all the way from his shoulder to his hip".
The man appeared to be part of a group of about a dozen motorcyclists travelling North on State Highway 1.
The man is currently in Wellington Hospital Emergency Department being assessed and treated. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
