This C847 was built at NZ rail in Dunedin in 1930 for mainly shunting
in the Canterbury area.It has seen life as a source of spare parts ,back
in action at Glenbrook Vintage Rail and came to Silver Stream Railway in
1998.'

Silver Stream Railway Celebrates 25 years

Silver Stream Railway celebrates its 25 years next Sunday 6 April with a special public day at its Reynolds Bach Drive rail operation. “It has always been a strong Wellington Regional attraction for families and adults wanting a chance for a steam train ride” says President Jason Durry. The special public day at their Upper Hutt base will see three steam locomotives in action plus the diesel railcar that has the record for the journey from Auckland to Wellington.

There will also be tours of the rail sheds.
Gates open 10.30 am to 4pm. Entry is $10.00 adults, Child $5.00 Family $25.00

Silver Stream Railway also has an engine dating back to the late 1800’s which was used on the first complete journey on the North Island Trunk line in 1908. This event will be celebrated later this year.
