Matariki is a time for New Zealand to
celebrate new beginnings . On July 21st, for the first
time, New Zealanders of all races are invited to the
exquisite Orakei Marae for a unique and authentic Marae
experience. The evening will comprise of a formal meal
with entertainment. This is the only event of its kind to
be held in this setting, a setting that is both beautiful
and of huge historical importance to Kiwis.
The aim of this unique celebration is to amalgamate all cultures of Aotearoa / New Zealand, challenging common "touristic" misconceptions of Marae experiences and food. In keeping with Marae protocol this will be an alcohol and smoke free event.
Entertainment will be provided by such outstanding talents as Betty Anne and Ryan Monga (Ardijah), Ngatapa Black and Te Puru o Tamaki and Selwyn College Kapa Haka groups.
