The Manukau City Council has declared a by-election for the Otara ward, following the official resignation of Cr Su’a William Sio.
Cr Sio handed in his resignation on Thursday 8 May to the Chief Executive Officer Leigh Auton. Under the terms of the Local Government Act, the council has 82 days to complete the by-election from the day chief executive officer instructs the electoral officer to undertake a by-election.
