Auckland Legend Gets In The Limelight

Local Auckland Legend Gets In The Limelight With Leigh Hart

New Zealand’s first sole practice female lawyer, Nola McGowan was today crowned Auckland’s ‘local legend’ by Leigh Hart on behalf of the Limelight Charity Couch tour, for her work in the community. .

Surrounded by those she has helped in the community, Nola was honoured by Limelight at Rangitoto College in Auckland.

Nominated by Kirsty Johnston, Nola is described as a successful business woman who goes the extra distance to help her clients, as well as being heavily involved in the Child Cancer Society and other community groups.

Nola’s commitment and support for her clients is incredibly supportive, says Kirsty. “ She helps them, visits them regularly, takes them food and goes to all family events - way beyond the expectations of a lawyer/client relationship.

On top of her successful business practice, she also devotes time to helping out in the community.

Kirsty continued: “She has been heavily involved in Child Cancer over the years since her own son was a cancer survivor at the age of three years. She has spent many hours in Oncology with her own son but also reached out to many other patients and their families, especially those from out of Auckland. She also helped set up and support the Hospice in Hibiscus Coast.”

Johnston’s closing nomination statement about Nola was: “She is the most amazingly warm, kind, generous, loving human being. And those of us who are lucky enough to be in her extended family know what an amazing woman she is. If it’s something you are passionate about, then Nola is passionate about it for you.”
