Microlight wreckage found
A rescue helicopter
has found the wreckage of a microlight and its two deceased
passengers about 120m from the northern end of the Wairoa
Aerodrome runway this morning.
Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand (RCCNZ) coordinated the search for the missing microlight after a friend raised the alarm about 4:40am. The pair departed Wairoa Aerodrome at around 3:15am but did not return.
The rescue chopper spotted the wreckage shortly after arriving on scene about 7:30am.
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has been advised.
Wairoa Police have advised next of kin.
