Man is a dog’s best friend
Dogs are looking for responsible owners to give them a good home following a recent amnesty.
Council’s contractor DSS Animal Management manager Barry Gillingwater says the amnesty was aimed at owners who decided to no longer register their dog or they had an aggressive dog they did not want.
“There are many loveable, domestic dogs which are given up under the amnesty and we make every effort to find them suitable homes with an owner prepared to give them a new life.”
People interested in adopting a dog should call the Adoption Officer on 279 5959. For more information on dog related matters visit
All dogs are required to be registered by law. The standard registration fee is $96 per year. Dog owners can apply to be formally recognised as a responsible dog owner and only pay $48 per year for registration, conditions and criteria will apply. All dogs must be re-registered in July.
