Unclaimed Temuka Million Talk of Town of 4,000

"Temuka's population is only about 4,000 and we gather all the town has been talking all week about who could be the lucky winner.

"The ticket won in the Lotto draw of 9 August and was purchased at Take Note Temuka. Take Note store owner, Scott Shannon, says that nobody seems to have any idea about who could be Lotto's latest millionaire.

"However everybody in town knows about the unclaimed prize it's the hot topic of conversation," he said.

Scott says that more than ninety percent of his Lotto buyers are locals so there is a good chance that someone from Temuka may still come forward.

However his shop is also sited on the main road between Christchurch and Dunedin so the Lotto buyer could have been a casual visitor to the community.

A million dollars would go a long way in Temuka where family houses can be bought for under $250,000.

"We normally hear from our big winners within a couple of days of their prize being won. So it is unusual to still be waiting for this winner to come forward. We encourage anyone who bought a ticket from this retailer recently to check it as soon as possible," Mr McLeay said.

Powerball has jackpotted this week, and will be worth an estimated $8 million in this Saturday's draw. Strike Four was also not struck and jackpots to $500,000 this week.
