Opotiki, Taupo and Methven prove they’re not losers

New Zealand towns nationwide are proving they’ve got what it takes to be crowned New Zealand’s most loved town.

In the nationwide Holla for your Hometown competition, launched by t-shirt company Billi Tees to find New Zealand’s most loved town, Taupo, Opotiki and Wellington have blasted the competition to prove they’re tops.

The competition, which will reward New Zealand’s most loved town with its own t-shirt design is set to finish on Friday 7 November 2008.

People can vote for town online at www.billitees.co.nz

At our last count, Methven, Ashburton, Waitakere City, Kawerau and Hokitika were all rating a mention, beating Napier, Westport and Riverton.

Auckland didn’t even rate.

With just one vote per email address, townsfolk need to encourage their neighbours, postman, diary owner, Grandma and school to vote to be in to win, which is why smaller towns are doing so well – they know how to rally the troupes!

The town with the most votes on Friday 7 November takes the prizes.

If your town wins, you will be crowned New Zealand’s most loved and receive your own t-shirt design, which will be presented to your mayor in a bang-up afternoon tea.

As well as the framed design presented to you, the first 30 people who
voted for the winner will get a free t-shirt. Everyone who voted for the winning town will receive a discount on that t-shirt and an invitation to the handover ceremony, with pink lamingtons and more giveaways.
