Ports Of Auckland Offers Free Tours Year-Round Following Record Bookings

Ports of Auckland is inviting Aucklanders to join future tours of the seaport by ferry following record bookings for a series of special tours over Auckland Anniversary Weekend.

Eight tours were offered in all and were booked out in just one week, including two tours added to cater to high demand. The Port will host nearly 1,000 guests over two consecutive days.

“This phenomenal response from the Auckland community is a great demonstration of the interest that Aucklanders have in their port,” says Ports of Auckland spokesperson Catherine Etheredge.

“It is also pleasing to see that so many people will be in staying Auckland to celebrate our city’s anniversary. There is a wonderful programme of free family events and activities on offer.”

Ports of Auckland is now inviting those who missed out to join one of more than 50 other tours available throughout the year.

The Port offers free weekly tours of the seaport by ferry on a regular basis, from early February to early December.

The hour-long tours, which include a detailed commentary, are available to both the general public and school groups.

More information can be found at www.poal.co.nz. Public tours can be booked by phoning Fullers on 09 367 9111. Interested school groups should contact the NZ National Maritime Museum on 09 373 0800
