Playing the fool on April Bowls Day

Crisp whites, asparagus rolls, pristine greens, flying jacks, killer drives, cheap beer and fine music. Together, they can only mean one thing: the return of the annual Radio Active 89FM April Bowls Day.

This year's April Bowls Day will be held 2pm April 4 at the Newtown Workingmen's Bowling Club, 177 Owen St, Newtown, Wellington.

The event has become a fixture on the Wellington social calendar as teams of hip cats have flocked like a herd mixed-metaphorical animal crackers, competing in the ultimate showdown of bowls prowess amidst rivers of cheap beer.

So roll up your asparagus, button up your cardigan and bust out the Boater hat. The annual Radio Active 89FM April Bowls Day is free and open to all to join, and the beer is cheap.

Register your team of four now by calling 8019899 or email bowls@radioactive.co.nz for your golden opportunity to play amongst the greatest and sip the finest cheap beer from jugs.

There are limited spots so register now to avoid missing the sporting event of the year for the most unsporting people in Wellington, who will probably be drinking cheap beer.

Entertainment, tips, tricks, bowls and prizes supplied. And did we mention the beer?

Last year, one team won the competition. This year, it could be you!
