Auckland super city
The Editor, Scoop
Dear Sir/Madam
If politicians and political commentators are concerned about democracy being reduced under the new Auckland 'super city' proposals, there is a simple solution. Make Binding Referendums a mandatory inclusion in the new legislation. This way ratepayers can be involved in key decisions about their city and region in between elections and assert their sovereignty when they believe it is important to do so.
