Waitakere Gathering - OUR chance to talk to mayors and councillors from across the Auckland region
Mayors and councillors from across the Auckland region are meeting at Waitakere City Council Chambers today to discuss the Government's super city proposals.
Representatives of community organisations have been invited to gather at 3.45pm at Waitakere City Council, to demonstrate their strength and commitment to local democracy.
Tony Mayow, Chairman of Community Waitakere says: "This is our chance to talk directly to our democratically elected representatives and explain our determination to continue to press for the retention and strengthening of effective local democracy, and to seek from them their commitment to support their own community organisations to join this movement."
"This gathering is another vital step in building our coalition."
In Waitakere City, Community Waitakere and Ecomatters will continue to plan further action of the Waitakere Community Coalition as planned, at our meeting at Corbans Estate Arts Centre, tomorrow morning."
