Weather causes State Highway 2 northbound delays
The NZ Transport Agency is this afternoon advising road users that there are delays on State Highway 2 (SH2) as a result of the poor weather.
Regional Highways Manager Rob Whight says that traffic is being slowed heading north on SH2 following work NZTA’s contractor needed to urgently undertake to clear a culvert.
“We closed one northbound lane of SH2 at BP Horokiwi to allow our team to address the problem with the culvert as it appeared it could overflow. Had we not stepped in to fix the problem it could have caused bigger delays and safety issues for travellers. Traffic has built up as a result. We are working with our contractors to resolve this issue as quickly as possible to minimise the inconvenience to our road users,” he says.
NZTA is monitoring the situation closely and will provide an update on this issue later this afternoon.
