New Churton Park School to be Year 1-6
The Minister of Education, Hon Anne Tolley, has decided that the new school at Churton Park will be a year 1-6 school.
The decision was welcomed by the President of the Churton Park Community Association, Roger Ellis “This is a further step along the road towards upgrading schooling capacity in our community” said Mr Ellis.
“The decision related to which years would be covered by the new school is something over which the Association would have ideally preferred to see wider consultation. We would like to have seen an opportunity for parents to have expressed their views. Some residents felt that having a Year 1-8 school would have reduced traffic congestion to Johnsonville and allowed children to be educated in their local community” said Mr Ellis.
“Having said that, we appreciate the government’s commitment to action and to resolving the infrastructure challenges of popular, high-growth, communities like Churton Park” said Mr Ellis.
