Vicious Attack at Wellington Skate Park

Vicious Attack at Wellington Skate Park

Ryan Bridge | 14 July 2009

A man has been seriously assaulted and urinated on at a Wellington skate park and is to undergo surgery on Tuesday night for serious facial injuries. Police have described the attack as ‘vicious’ and are appealing to the public for help.

The incident occurred on Monday at around 8.30pm and one witness has already been identified by Police. The witness has described seeing up to five offenders surrounding the male as he lay on the ground. One offender was overheard talking about urinating on the victim.

Detective Sergeant Martin Todd described the incident as ‘callous’ and believes it may have been a random act of violence.

"The male had cash and other items of his property taken from him but due to the nature of his injuries, he has no recollection of what happened to him and where this occurred. We'd like to hear from members of the public who can help with our investigation," says Detective Sergeant Todd.

Todd is urging anyone who saw the attack to contact Wellington CIB on Tel: (04) 496 3468.
