New $22.4 Million Street Light Contract
Transfield Services And Auckland City Council Set To Deliver New $22.4 Million Street Light Contract
Transfield Services has begun work on an eight-year $22.4 million contract for maintenance and repair of street lighting for the Auckland City Council.
The new contract is part of $1.7 billion Auckland City Council is investing in the maintenance of its assets over the next decade, including everything from swimming pools, community centres, roads and footpaths.
Transfield Services will provide a 24 hour 7 day a week repair and upgrade service for the city’s street lighting system and replace older concrete and fibreglass lampposts with new galvanised steel poles, contributing to safer streets and public areas across Auckland City.
Transfield Services will also assist in the ongoing, long-term placement underground of the electricity distribution network across Auckland City, which removes unsightly overhead electricity wires from residential areas.
Transfield Services’ New Zealand and Australia CEO, Mr Bruce James, said today: “We will continue to provide cost effective essential services for the benefit of Auckland City ratepayers.”
Auckland City Council General Manager of Transport Don Munro said today: “The council’s contract with Transfield Services is one of several new council contracts which became operational on July 1. Thanks to a highly competitive contractor environment, the new contracts are providing significant savings to the council.”
The Company has provided these services to the Auckland City Council for ten years and was successful in an open tender process.
