Wellington City Mission receives helping hand for foodbank stocks this winter

The Wellington City Mission has received 3,000 cartons of Campbell’s Velish soup, donated as part of a recent initiative from Campbell’s Arnott’s.

Free pop-up Campbell’s Velish soup kitchens in Wellington acted as the backdrop to raise awareness about the Wellington City Mission’s foodbank stock. The drop in stock is a result of increased demand for foodbank services during the past 18 months.

Wellington City Mission spokesperson Father Des Britten is grateful for the generosity. “This generous donation of Velish has come just at the right time.

“Not only has it relieved tremendous pressure on our foodbank, but what better thing to have in the middle of winter than a bowl of heart warming soup,” adds Father Des Britten.

Locals were encouraged to visit the soup kitchen between 11.30am-2pm everyday for one week to enjoy a free bowl of Velish courtesy of Campbell’s Arnott’s. For every bowl of soup donated, a carton of Campbell’s Velish was donated to the Wellington City Mission.

Campbell Arnott’s Group Marketing Manager, Kate Berry hopes the donated soup will make a difference. “Donating 3,000 cartons of wholesome soup to help fill emergency food parcels to the Wellington City Mission is a great way to connect with those who need it more than ever,” says Mrs Berry.
