Changes on SH1 over Newmarket – postponed
The NZ Transport Agency advises that scheduled changes to the SH1 southbound motorway lanes across the Newmarket Viaduct have been postponed due to wet weather.
The southbound lanes of the Southern Motorway (SH1) between the Gillies Avenue off-ramp and the St Marks Road on-ramp will now be closed overnight on Monday 17 August (weather permitting). Please follow the signposted detour route.
Temporary barriers and new lane markings will be in place following this work. A new 70km/h speed limit will also apply. The work is part of ongoing construction on the SH1 Newmarket Connection project.
Motorists are advised to please slow down and drive carefully. The NZ Transport Agency thanks you for your co-operation during this essential work.
