Press Release

Graham Bell Becomes Patron of Neighbourhood Support Auckland

Neighbourhood Support Auckland City is thrilled that Detective Inspector (ret.) Graham Bell (QSM), host of TVNZ’s Police Ten 7 program, has agreed to be their Patron. Kevin Hicks, Chairperson of NSAC Inc says Mr Bell is one of New Zealand's most experienced and successful detectives and brings a wealth of experience to the role.

“He share’s our vision of ‘safer, friendlier, more caring communities’ ”, says Kevin. Graham Bell spent 33 years in the NZ Police, most of his time involved in investigating serious crime. He was awarded the Queen's Service Medal in the Birthday Honours list in 2001.

He believes Neighbourhood Support is more than just about fighting crime and says it has huge potential to improve people’s quality of life, including overcoming loneliness, improving neighbourhood safety and quality and helping those who are most vulnerable. Graham says he is particularly pleased to be able to help an organisation that takes such a pro-active role in community safety.

He hopes his support will help to raise awareness for all Aucklander’s that to get to know and trust their neighbours is a very important personal safety step they can all take. “By getting to know your neighbours you will realise that help really is just over the fence” he says.
