Fatal Car Crash Rotorua - patient update
The 19-year-old Rotorua man transported to Waikato Hospital yesterday on the Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance is now out of intensive care and stable in a ward.
Background:
At 0630 this morning (03.09.09) the Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance was dispatched to Rotorua Hospital to retrieve a 19-year-old Rotorua man seriously injured in a single vehicle car crash earlier this morning.
The man suffered head and spinal injuries and his companion died when their vehicle rolled off the road at high speed on SH30 near Okataina at 1am this morning. The 19-year-old was initially airlifted to Rotorua Hospital by the Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter.
This morning a Waikato intensive care unit flight team transferred the man in the Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance to Waikato Hospital on life support, where he remains in a serious condition.
