Canterbury springs many surprises
Visitors to Canterbury can expect the unexpected
this Spring as Christchurch’s spectacular backyard bursts
back into full bloom.
And they could win their Spring
Escape to Canterbury simply by visiting
www.christchurchnz.com and sending a stunning e-card of the
region to friends and family.
With the region awash in the vibrant colours of spring and the temperatures rising, now is the perfect time to explore the region - from the bright lights of Christchurch to the relaxing thermal pools of Hanmer Springs to the rugged Alps and secluded bays and the quaint rural towns bursting with fresh seasonal produce and possibilities for adventure.
While New Zealand Cup and Show Week is certainly a highlight in Canterbury at this time of year, the region has many other surprises in store for locals and visitors alike.
"You never know what's going to pop up in the Spring. When people think about coming to Christchurch and Canterbury at this time of the year they probably think about the races and the fashion,'' says Christchurch & Canterbury Tourism chief executive Christine Prince.
"And there is no doubt we offer plenty of high stakes, high energy fun during Cup and Show Week, but there is much more to the region and we're really hoping that people will come and discover that for themselves this Spring.
"Whether you are a food lover looking for gastronomical delights, an adrenalin-junkie looking for your next rush, or you are looking for a romantic hide-away you need to make Canterbury your Spring Escape destination. There is something here for everyone, before, during and after our big week, from spa indulgence, golf and farmers markets, to café culture and stunning wildlife tours,'' says Christine Prince.
