The dancefloor is soaking, but the show will go on

Press Release: Yours Truly Productions

It's bad enough when reviewers call your show a washout, let alone when it really is one.

Entwine, a highlight of Wellington's Dance Your Socks Off Festival, has been postponed till next week due to heavy rain.

The free outdoor show on Lambton Quay will have to wait for better weather before its cast can take to the high wire.

Choreographer Katie MacKinnon says the show combines vaudeville, bungy cords and ballet throughout the day to bring contemporary dance to a new audience.

"A lot of people have never heard of contemporary dance - or if they have, they might have dismissed it as a bit wanky.

"It's a shame 'though, because it can actually be really athletic and a lot of fun - so our idea was to catch people on their lunch break and show them something new."

She says she considered booking an alternate venue but decided against it.

"We could perform it in a theatre, but then you'd have the same old crowd.

"This show is all about new experiences."

Entwine will return Friday, 02 October.
