As Good As The Start

Wanaka, New Zealand - October 4, 2009 – The cold temperatures coupled with over 20 cm of fresh snow created mid-season conditions for Treble Cone’s Closing Day. The low snow fall around Wanaka helped to motivate locals back up to the hill for their last powder turns of the 2009 season.

The skiing and snowboarding community came fully kitted out in the retro ski gear for the fancy dress theme. It proved to function well as skiers and riders navigated fresh lines through Treble Cone’s terrain.

“The powder was phenomenal over the past two days,” said Tim Hudson, Acting Managing Director, “Sunday’s crowd was full of life and we were pleased that Mother Nature cooperated by delivering plenty of fresh snow.”

Treble Cone closed the season with the deepest base in the Southern Lakes with skiing and riding on nearly 100 percent of their natural terrain. The 2009 season was one to remember and the management is looking forward to the years to come.

With the South Island’s largest vertical descent, the most terrain and longest groomed trails, Treble Cone is New Zealand’s premier alpine resort. 360 degree views of the snow capped Southern Alps, the brilliant blue Lake Wanaka and the rugged Central Otago landscape make this one of the most memorable views of any global resort. Situated on the edge of Lake Wanaka, Treble Cone has established itself as a mecca for all snow enthusiasts both locally and abroad. Treblecone.com
