TASMANIA, 7 October 2009 – Water lovers and landlubbers alike will enjoy an action packed day of activities on and off the ocean at the Tasmania Seafarers Festival on 25 October.

Held on the scenic Bellerive Boardwalk in Hobart, the Tasmania Seafarers Festival is a free family event that has been educating and entertaining visitors on all things ocean since 2002.

The event presents a range of maritime information stalls where visitors can pick up handy hints on sea safety and learn new skills such as fishing and knot tying.

Families will enjoy the quirky and traditional boat races on the Derwent River and Kangaroo Bay Lagoon, as well as musical and dramatic performances on the boardwalk stage.

The kids will be kept entertained with a variety of competitions and activities including the infamous children’s costume competition which sees dress ups ranging from sailors and captains to pirates and convicts.

A delicious array of Tasmanian food and beverages are also on offer at the many food stalls throughout the event to fill hungry tummies.
