ARTA advises people plan alternative travel

ARTA advises NZ Bus service users to plan alternative means of travel to school and to work tomorrow

The Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) advises NZ Bus service users, to plan alternative means of getting to school or work tomorrow as it is expected that industrial action will continue to affect services. The services affected include all Metrolink, North Star, GO WEST, Waka Pacific, LINK and City Circuit, inclusive of school services.

With the end of the school holidays, demand on available public transport and congestion is expected to be especially high this week. Please allow extra time to get to our destination, be patient and consider alternative travel options.

Is it possible to walk or cycle to your destination? Could your child join a walking school bus to get to school? Is carpooling an option? Can you share a ride to and from work, or pool with other parents to get the children to school? These alternatives also help to minimise car congestion in the city.

Ritchies (who operate the Northern Express), Birkenhead, Bayes, Howick and Eastern, Murphy Buses, Urban Express, Waiheke Island Buses, Tranzit and AirBus Express services will all be operating as usual. In addition these bus companies will be continuing to provide some skeleton bus replacement services where possible.

All other ferry and train services will continue to operate as normal. Customers should check maxx.co.nz for the latest travel information and details of alternative means of making their journey, or call MAXX (09) 366 6400 for more information.

If customers want to check which operator provides their usual service, this information can be found online via the MAXX Journey Planner or by calling the MAXX contact centre.
