Artist in Residence opportunity for 2010
ROTORUA 20.10.09: Applications are now being accepted for an 8-week artist in residence programme beginning in April next year in Rotorua.
The residency, supported by Rotorua District Council, Rotorua Trust, Creative Communities Rotorua, Millennium Hotel, Waiariki Institute of Technology and Rotorua Arts Village Experience (RAVE), has been offered to New Zealand artists every since 2006.
The 2010 residency will include bedsit accommodation provided by the Millennium Hotel Rotorua.
Rotorua District Council community arts officer Kiri Jarden says Rotorua has a dynamic landscape and diverse and active arts community which makes it a great place to be creative.
“The residency provides an opportunity for artists to develop their craft and progress and project. And there is always a community element which could be a performance, exhibition, seminar or some combination of these.”
Artists practicing in any genre have can apply and they have until Monday 30 November to make application.
Applicants must demonstrate a clear commitment to their art form, with the successful applicant also required to participate in an arts luncheon, community presentations, and media interviews.
