WCC Airport shares
Press-release from the City is Ours:
The Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce has this to say...............................
While welcoming the investment in both airports, the Chamber has expressed concerns about the City Council's exposure as a shareholder in Wellington Airport. In its submission on the Airport Master plan, the Chamber urged the Council to sell its 34% stake in the Airport reinvest the proceeds in new and improved infrastructure for the City. "The Council points to the dividend it makes from its shareholding in the Airport but this investment is not risk free and it becomes more of an issue as the size of the investment grows.
Correction: "The Council to sell its 34% stake in the Airport and ask the Wellington ratepayers how they want the proceeds spend". The City is Ours reminds readers the other shareholder in the Airport is Infratil and would be the most likely buyer should Council decide. The Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce has shares in Infratil.
