Media Release

Open night for redevelopment of Mangere Boat Ramp

Manukau and Auckland City Councils are holding an open night to discuss preliminary designs for the redevelopment of the boat ramp at Mangere Bridge. Concept designs for other elements of the project including a new toilet block on Waterfront Reserve and expansion of the existing car park will also be presented.

The design for the all-tide facility includes floating pontoons, a breakwater and parking.

The open night, a follow-up to earlier consultation which took place in May, will be held at the Mangere Bridge School Hall, corner of Coronation and Taylor Roads, Mangere Bridge at 5.30pm on Wednesday, 25 November. Members of the project team will be on hand to answer questions and feedback forms will also be available.

Resource consent from the Auckland Regional Council and Manukau City Council will be applied for in early 2010 with construction scheduled to begin later that year.

Manukau City and Auckland City Councils are providing $2 million funding for the project.
