Australian Olympian Wins Manukau City Puhinui 3 Day
Consolidating his first placing in both the dressage and cross country phases of the Manukau City Puhinui 3 Day Horse Trial, Australian Olympian Stuart Tinney placed first in New Zealand’s prestigious CCI*** event.
After a clear round in the show jumping aboard his mount Watermark Grayson, the Sydney 2000 Olympic gold medalist believes the victory here will help his selection cause heading toward the 2010 FEI World Championships in Kentucky, USA. Second place went to New Zealand rider Kate Wood riding Easy Tiger. Third place went to Lizzie Brown on Henton Attorney General and 4th place to Alice Montgomery on Tanqueray.
In the CCI** overnight leader Donna Smith on FIS Underdiscussion maintained her lead with a clear show jumping round. Emily Butcher on Benjamin James came 2nd; Clarke Johnstone on Incognito came 3rd. Olympian Heelan Tompkins on Major Difference came 4th.
