Mission Bay Jazz and Blues Streetfest ready to go!
New Zealand's only Jazz and Blues Streetfest is back again with more than 20 bands expected to entertain tens of thousands of fans at Mission Bay on Saturday 27 February 2010.
Event Director, Richard Lindroos said “that the iconic event brings the Mission Bay waterfront alive with a great atmosphere of music, dancing, and dining.”
The Streetfest has a range of New Zealand bands performing on the street, on the beach and on stages at Auckland’s most famous city beach – Mission Bay. This year the event sees headliner acts including Jan Preston, Australia’s ‘Queen of boogie piano’ Tama Waipara, and Waikato’s exclusive swingers Late 80’s Mercedes, and Streetfest favourites Recliner Rockers and Stingray playing to the anticipated large crowds.
There are two main performance stages at the Streetfest, one near the famous Mission Bay Fountain and one on Mission Bay Beach. Tamaki Drive will be closed from 3:30pm allowing other bands to play on the street itself.
Public transport is available from Britomart in the City and a special $2 per person shuttle bus service will also operate regularly from 5pm around a circuit encompassing St Heliers, Kohimarama, Orakei and Mission Bay.
Tickets are $10 at the gate (cash/eftpos only), and children aged five years and under are free. No alcohol permitted. Licensed areas and a full extensive range of food stalls are available inside the venue. Rain date: following week – Saturday 6 March.
