Blessing before demolition at Waikato Hospital
Waikato District Health Board will acknowledge the past and look to the future at a dawn blessing ceremony next Friday (12 February).
The 7am ceremony led by Tainui Kaumatua with the Waikato Hospital chaplaincy will farewell four hospital buildings and bless the site for further construction.
The
old Distribution Centre, Purchasing, Kitchen and Bendall
buildings are all marked for demolition to make way for the
new Waikato Clinical Centre.
Waikato DHB Service and
Campus Redevelopment (SCR) project director Ian Wolstencroft
said these buildings date back to 1908 and hold a lot of
history for many
people.
