Peppers Convent Turns 100 And The Port Is On Us

Peppers Convent Turns 100 And The Port Is On Us

Elegant Hunter Valley retreat, Peppers Convent, celebrates 100 years of exquisite stays this summer with a range of indulgent getaways complete with bottle of specially-commissioned port.

Encircled by lush gardens and vineyards in the heart of the famous wine country, Peppers Convent provides the ideal escape from the pressures of everyday life – and with a bonus drop 100 years in the making as a special gift, there has never been a better time for a taste of luxury.

To mark its centenary, Peppers Convent commissioned Pepper Tree Wines to create the commemorative Liqueur Merlot Port, described by experts as displaying the attributes of a ripe Wrattonbully Merlot but richer.

Visitors can savour it for themselves on a unique getaway, or take it home as a souvenir, with a bottle valued at $50 included in Peppers Convents’ Sleepy Summer Indulgence Packages valid to 31 March 2010.

Packages start from $252* per person including overnight midweek accommodation, exclusive full country breakfast each morning, pre-dinner drinks and canapés, dinner at the renowned Roberts Restaurant and bottle of Peppers Convent Commemorative Liqueur Merlot.

Built in 1909, Peppers Convent was originally home to the Brigidine order of nuns in Coonamble, located nearly 600km to the west of the Hunter. The building was moved in pieces to its present location amidst the Pepper Tree Winery Estate, where it was painstakingly reconstructed by a team of master tradesmen.
