SH1 Terrace Tunnel Closure
The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists The Terrace Tunnel will be closed to traffic overnight on the evenings of Sunday 14 to Wednesday 17 February
Wellington Operations Manager Mark Owen says the closure periods will be from 10.00pm each evening through to 4:30am the following morning.
“Motorists need to be aware that on some evenings both lanes will be closed while on others just the north-bound or south-bound lane will be closed. All vehicle traffic will be diverted off SH1 during these times.
“Electronic messages signs will be used to advise motorists whether the tunnel is open or closed.”
On Sunday 14, Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 February the tunnel will be partially closed with one lane operating. On Monday 15 February, the tunnel will be closed to all traffic.
Sunday 14 February: partial closure, south-bound lane only will be closed.
Monday 15 February: total closure, both lanes will be closed.
Tuesday 16 February: partial closure, south bound lane only will be closed.
Wednesday 17 February: partial closure, north-bound lane only will be closed.
Mark Owen said no other closures or restrictions are planned and as this work will be undertaken at night, no significant delays are anticipated.
“We apologise to motorists for any inconvenience while this work is done.”
