Towncentre Taupo launches the reusable TCoffee cup

MEDIA RELEASE

Towncentre Taupo launches the reusable Taupo Coffee Cup

Towncentre Taupo have launched a reusable environmentally friendly coffee cup, that can be accepted at cafes around the Taupo CBD.

The cups are branded ‘Great Lake, Great Place, Great Coffee’ and have been sourced from Australian cup manufacturer, Keep Cup.

“We’ve been working on this idea for a while,” said Towncentre Taupo General Manager, Kylie Hawker.  “Ideally, we want coffee consumers in Taupo to be able to take their Taupo cup into any café, and have it filled with the beverage of their choice.”

“This is partly a marketing exercise, and partly an environmental exercise,” said Ms Hawker.  “We know that literally hundreds of paper cups get disposed of each week in Taupo, and we see this initiative as one step towards helping to reduce that waste.  And while we’re at it, it’s a good chance to promote the great coffee culture in Taupo!”

The cups will be available for sale from this week at many Taupo cafes, and can also be purchased directly from the Towncentre Taupo offices at 66 Paora Hapi Street.

“Towncentre has underwritten the production cost of the cups, as we are determined to keep them as affordable as possible.  Customers can purchase a cup for $20 and get the first refill for free.  We’re also working on promotions whereby different cafes will offer discounts and incentives for using the cups,” said Ms Hawker.
