Chemicals Minus The Haze
Chemicals Minus The Haze
The pros and cons of garden chemicals will be the subject of what promises to be clear-headed discussion at a free public workshop at Hollard Gardens, Kaponga, on Sunday (22 August).
"We'll take a step back from the emotion that can surround this topic and carefully examine all the options for dealing with weeds and other garden pests," says the Taranaki Regional Council's Regional Gardens Manager, Greg Rine. "Any type of gardener will find it a useful session."
He says the session will focus on smart gardening, and the consequences of a variety of approaches across the spectrum, including:
Not using sprays at all.
Making your own sprays.
Selecting the best manufactured spray for the job at hand.
The two-hour workshop begins at the events pavilion at Hollards at 2pm. It is one of a series of free public activities at Hollard Gardens, Tupare and Pukeiti, the three heritage properties owned and managed by the Taranaki Regional Council on behalf of the people of the region.
