On Thursday 12 August 2010 Mt Hutt Ski Area closed the mountain at approximately 12.30pm due to high winds. We were unable to evacuate all guests before it became unsafe to travel down our access road, this resulted in both guests and ski area staff staying overnight in the base area.
Guests made themselves as comfortable as possible and were well fed by the Mt Hutt Food and Beverage crew who cooked dinner and breakfast.
At this stage we have not confirmed the time of departure for guests, however we are confident we will get guests off the mountain this morning (13 August) as the winds are forecast to ease. Mt Hutt continues to be closed this morning as our priority is to get everyone down the access road and home safely.
