City Vision Positive about Election Outcome
Voting papers are going out today in Auckland's first Supercity election. "After a strong campaign of door knocking and meeting people in the community, our hard-working City Vision and City Vision aligned candidates are feeling positive about the prospects for a progressive Council" says Robert Gallagher, Chair of City Vision.
"The feedback we are getting is that voters, already angry about the Rodney Hide designed Supercity, are extremely anxious about a C&R region-wide takeover and have welcomed our local approach to the campaign."
"Over many years, City Vision has worked with a range of groups, and has always selected candidates active in the grassroots community. We have demonstrated that we are serious about listening to local needs and working with all those with the community interests at heart. Glenda Fryer and Cathy Casey in Albert-Eden-Roskill and Mike Lee in Waitemata and Gulf Ward, along with our mix of experienced and new Local Board candidates, are real, hard-working community campaigners with a track record of service to ratepayers and our community."
Robert Gallagher said "We are taking nothing for granted and will continue working hard on the ground to encourage people to complete their voting paper and post it today. The message we are now sending out to voters is the importance of voting for real change and for a strong community voice."
